Reactions to the new 'Directive Copyright'

The European Parliament approved a measure that strengthens the protection of content on the internet.

After the controversial decision on Tuesday, in which the European Parliament outlined how they will use and protect the contents on the web, the public has come out the positions and controversies between those who support extensive freedoms on the Internet and those who defend the protection and licensing of works.

One of the most criticized points is Article 13, which requires technology platforms to have measures to prevent violations of protected content. Among them, control systems that detect possible violations by users in the content they publish.

Some who supported the project were Paul McCartney, James Blunt and Plácido Domingo, and more than 1,300 artists, who asked to approve it. In this position there are also labels, artists' unions and several exponents of the content creation industry.

The French government, one of the great promoters of the 'Directive Copyright', praised the result through a trillion of the minister of culture, Franck Riester.
